MYANMAR BUDDHIST TEMPLE
Redevelopment Project
The redevelopment project is building community, developing a sense of belonging with the Spirit of Alberta, enhancing community capacity to support and promote cultural activities, fortifying the civic health of the community by taking further steps toward broader civic participation.
This is the very place where our children can learn how to take pride in their culture and ancestry traditions based on Buddhist values – which are built on three pillars; Dana (Giving with a sense of conviction) – teaches us how to share with an empathetic heart to build a more compassionate society; Sila (Morality with a sense of conviction) teaches us how to build a more equitable society; and Bhavana (Mental Development –Training) teaches us how to develop peace with yourselves (within) and with others.
This is the place where Myanmar seniors break out of their social isolation and lead to social inclusion. This is the place where the community meets, works together and shares with the mainstream community - a path to integration.
We are a wholly volunteer run faith based community association.
You may make a donation of materials, your time and labor toward redevelopment project and/or in community activities.
You may make a fully tax deductible contribution on-line through PayPal toward redevelopment project.
As a Buddhist, “Dana”, in Sanskrit - ‘giving’, is a fundamental practice inherited in our DNA. Giving in both or either the spirit of generosity and/or generosity of spirit is a way of letting go and benefiting others.
Volunteering is ‘Giving’ service as Dana in the generosity of spirit to benefit others. We need volunteers for all community activities.
We are recruiting committee members for the Project Management & Coordination Committe which is to oversee the performance of all works on time and on budget, and ensuring delivery of a successful completion on scope as outlined in the contract. Click here for Terms of Reference
